IJ SPACE was founded in 2014 by harpsichord player Machiko Suto and recorder player Yi-Chang Liang in Amsterdam.
IJ SPACE recorded their debut CD for the Swiss label Claves Records on a collection of 6 recorder sonatas by Francesco Mancini, to be released in June, 2020.
They received the First Prize at the 19th edition of Biagio Marini Competition 2018 in Neuburg, (Germany) and the Third Prize at the International van Wassenaer Competition during the Utrecht Early Music Festival 2018, (the Netherlands) and performed in prestigious concert halls so far like: Grote Zaal of TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht, Oumigakudou in Tokyo & National Recital Hall in Taipei.
They had performed several concerts during the IYAP 2018 in Antwerpen, Uitmarkt in Amsterdam and the Fabulous Fringe at the Utrecht Early Music Festival 2018 and have been invited to give concerts at the Jong Talent Schiermonnikoog Festival in the Netherlands and Wunderkammer festival in Trieste, Italy in March, 2020 and BOZAR Next Generation Festival in Brussels, Belgium in May, 2020.
